Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Our Commitment
At Barnes Smart Solutions Limited, integrity, accountability and responsible business practices are fundamental to how we operate.
As a provider of secure payment technologies, identity security solutions, cryptographic services and edge intelligence, we recognise that trust extends beyond the technology we deliver. It also applies to how we conduct business, engage with our partners and manage our supply chain.
We are committed to respecting human rights and opposing all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child exploitation.
Our approach reflects the principles of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and our commitment to conducting business ethically across the markets in which we operate.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Barnes Smart Solutions is part of Barnes International Group, bringing together specialist technology expertise, international partnerships and industry experience to deliver solutions to organisations worldwide.
Our portfolio includes EMV data preparation, hardware security modules (HSMs), identity and access management, instant issuance, edge intelligence and associated consulting, development and support services.
We work with established technology manufacturers, software providers, distributors, resellers and service partners to deliver these solutions.
While our core activities focus on technology and professional services, we recognise that our international supply chain may involve organisations operating across different industries, regions and regulatory environments.
We therefore consider responsible business conduct an important part of maintaining trusted, long-term relationships with our suppliers and partners.
Ethical Business Practices
We believe that responsible business relationships are built on transparency, accountability and respect.
Barnes Smart Solutions does not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any form. We expect those working with or on behalf of our business to comply with applicable employment and human rights legislation.
This includes opposing:
- Forced, compulsory or involuntary labour.
- Human trafficking and exploitation.
- Unlawful child labour.
- Unsafe, abusive or exploitative working conditions.
- Employment practices that unlawfully restrict individual rights or freedoms.
These expectations apply to our own business activities and guide our approach to working with external suppliers, contractors and partners.
Responsible Supplier Relationships
Our technology solutions rely on a network of specialist suppliers and partners, including organisations involved in hardware manufacturing, software development, distribution and technical services.
We recognise that modern slavery risks may exist at different levels of global technology supply chains, including beyond our direct suppliers.
Our approach is to encourage responsible business practices and consider ethical conduct when establishing and maintaining commercial relationships.
Where credible concerns relating to modern slavery or human rights violations arise, we are committed to reviewing the circumstances and determining appropriate action.
Our People
Our employees and the expertise they bring are central to the solutions and services we provide.
We are committed to maintaining a professional working environment where individuals are treated fairly, respectfully and in accordance with applicable employment legislation.
We expect our business relationships to reflect these same principles, with respect for individual rights, lawful employment practices and appropriate working conditions.
Raising Concerns
We recognise the importance of identifying and addressing concerns relating to unethical labour practices or potential human rights violations.
Employees, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders are encouraged to raise any concerns relating to suspected modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business activities.
Concerns brought to our attention will be taken seriously and assessed appropriately, with further action considered where necessary.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Responsible business conduct is an ongoing responsibility.
As Barnes Smart Solutions continues to develop its technology portfolio, expand its partnerships and support customers across international markets, we remain committed to maintaining ethical standards throughout our operations and business relationships.
We will continue to review our approach to modern slavery risks in line with our business activities, applicable legislation and evolving supply chain considerations.
